Why This Must Be Read: sgabigbang 2008 submission for the John/Elizabeth category. Complete AU. As the death toll rises in the city of Atlantis, detectives Elizabeth Weir and John Sheppard attempt to find the source of the problem, but all is not as it seems and what begins as a simple case may change their world, again.

The secondary characters are wonderfully drawn-out: Cameron and Lorne play a great dynamic with each other as partnered cops. Rodney, Teyla, Kavanaugh, Ford – and a host of others on the force. While there’s over a dozen well-familiar faces that grace the pages, in entirely original ways, the characters still remain achingly familiar and pitch perfect. This story has drama; it has action; it’s has comedy (wait until you read about Rodney’s livejournal!) It’s got a big cast that’s wonderfully written and the various dynamics from a great number of characters are explored expertly.

With John, Elizabeth, Cameron, Lorne, Jack, Rodney, Teyla, Ronon, Ford, Kolya, Ladon, Vala and many, many more. This fic has it all: suspense, mystery, drama, humor, and best of all, the relationship between John and Elizabeth is simply wonderful. Their co-dependent friendship and partnership has history, and it leads to wonderful UST. Go! Read!

Why This Must Be Read: Because some of the very best Atlantis fics begin with the question, "What would the expedition do if it had free time?" Jumping out of a Puddle Jumper at 40,000 feet, obviously! (You know Ford would have gotten around to that eventually.) Elizabeth is in her head and completely adorable and John's smirk is all powerful. Their friendship and trust is the foundation of this fic, and in the end, the question becomes, "Will she leap?"
