Just out of curiosity, I wanted to gauge the interest of the members here regarding which SGA het pairings they'd like to see more recs for. (Note that Sheppard/Weir seems to already be well represented, and will likely draw at least two more recs from me before Challenge One is over.) Obviously, this list is not all inclusive because the ship permutations are numerous, but feel free to add to the list. :p

ETA: Forget the limitation of two selections. Ticky as many as you want!

Rating/Warning(s): R, Sexual situations
Genre: Angst
WIP?: Complete

Why This Must Be Read: The subtitle to this fic provides a more apt description than I could craft: Four Ways Elizabeth Weir Never Fell Apart and One Way She May Have.

This is an excellent exploration of the ways in which our expedition leader deals with five of the more trying experiences she's had in Pegasus. It's a well written piece that takes a thoughtful look at Elizabeth, probing the strength and depth of her character -- the core that exists even in weakness.
silver_galaxy: (Rodney & Teyla)

Fandom Category: Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: Rodney McKay/Teyla Emmagen
Fic Title: Ashna and Eshon
Author: [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon

Rating/Warning: PG
Genre: het, friendship, drama
WIP?: no

Why this must be read:

"That's not the point," Rodney quibbled. "Okay. Well, it's sort of the point. It's a point. But think about it – the only word we have for her position is exactly the same word we use to describe the leader of her people's sworn enemy. Our sworn enemy."

Apart from the fact that it attempts to answer the ultimate scifi question of how does everyone understand each other/speak the same language?? People will often write about the shared interest that Rodney and Teyla have in music and this is kind of similar, as it looks at the meaning behind words and how one language (English) can limit a person's understanding of another (Athosian). And its very sweet to see Rodney finally work out why he is so upset that for all this time they have been referring to Teyla in the same way as they refer to the Wraith and the interest he takes in Teyla's son and ensuring that he knows about his culture :)
