Why This Must Be Read: As it currently stands in the show's canon, Arthur/Gwen is barely a ship; they've only begun to notice each other. However, some writers have the amazing talent to build the two characters iin the direction that legend tells us they will go, and paperclipbitch is one of them. Her rendition of Gwen is spot on, showing that she is an incredibly complex person. Arthur is perhaps left a little more mysterious, as the story is exclusively from Gwen's point of view, but his characterization is highly accurate as well. He's charming, playful, and yet sometimes clearly feels the wait of his duty and destiny on his shoulders.

Merlin and Morgana are both charming and hilarious in their supporting roles as well. paperclipbitch has woven a delightful little tale that lays the foundation for the Once and Future King and the woman who will one-day be his queen. An excellent read.
