Sheldon/Penny Recommendations

Sheldon/Penny is quite possibly one of my few ships across all my fandoms that isn't defined as canon, and yet I think they have one of the strongest relationships demonstrated on TV, mostly because they compliment each other better than one would suspect.

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of the first fics I read, back when this show's fandom was little more than a blip in LJ's existance, and so, the fact that I still remember reading it, so long ago, says a lot for how much I appreciated Sheldon's characterisation in this. He's just so perfectly Sheldon, rational and overly-scientific and so befuddled by love.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a beautifully written, stunning portrait of Elizabeth Weir. Not the doctor or the leader or the diplomat, but the woman, who has put her life on hold for her City and the people that she loves. This story takes its time - Elizabeth doesn't suddenly wake up one morning, realizes she wants to jump her second in command, and does so in the nearest storage closet. (...not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you.) But this fic really gets inside Elizabeth's head, all her questions and insecurities slowly rising to the surface as she finally begins to contemplate just exactly how much she's given up over the years, and whether or not it really needs to be that way. Includes gorgeous cameos by Teyla, and Lisa Cuddy from House, MD. The crossover works flawlessly, and you don't need any knowledge of House in order to appreciate it. And all the while, John waits patiently and supportively for Elizabeth to realize that she does, in fact, want to jump him in the nearest storage closet. Because he's just chivalrous like that.

Why This Must Be Read: This delightful AU takeoff on the fourth season episode Double Trouble in the Panhandle will leave you feeling more than a little nostalgic for Buck and Wanda Moosejaw--ridiculous knife-throwing act and all. Ever wondered how Booth and Brennan managed to share that tiny little trailer without "crossing any lines?" daygloparker does more than wonder. She puts it in writing in a way that is both imminently believable and utterly satisfying.
