Why This Must Be Read: My favourite mythology fics are ones that portray the gods like mortals, just bigger. These two are twins, with the intertwined destiny that accompanies such a thing. Apollo is callous and Artemis cold, Apollo shallow and material while Artemis is forever chaste. But they are subject to their own flaws, much like humans, and even though they may make mortal mistakes, they will never die.

Why This Must Be Read: I walked out of the fourth Die Hard movie with two very present thought processes. The first: I want post-movie John/Holly like you would NOT BELIEVE. The second: Lucy McClane is 10000% her father's daughter and just as much her mother's child.

This little gem of the story takes Lucy out for a spin and not only gives us a beautiful view of her childhood and the ways in which she is completely her father's daughter, but also the ways she's completely herself. This isn't so much a romantic story as a story about a daughter and a father, neither of whom is very successful at their role all that often. It's fairly short, but incredibly satisfying.

So although I'm a member of this community I didn't know Merlin was included in this challenge until I saw it in a Merlin community. I bring you a fabulous Arthur/Morgana fic I've just read.

Why This Must Be Read: If you're at all interested in Arthur/Morgana read this fic! It portrays the characters really well, is filled with angst and drama, and is nice and long (15 chapters) for maximum enjoyment. "Arthur and Morgana are in love, but Uther has already made plans for Morgana's future. Thus begins a journey where duty clashes with emotion. " So slight hurt/comfort with a happy ending.

Why This Must Be Read: A beautiful story that takes the pairings that were hinted at in the first series and takes them in a completely different direction. The story is told by Morgana and Merlin, mainly, but the voices of Gwen and Arthur are equally as strong. We see how things might have been different if just one little thing here and there had changed -- if Arthur had held his tongue just once, or if Merlin had learned caution just a little more quickly, and so on. The story revolves around the choices the characters make, and how their lives are shaped by them. Destiny takes a different road, and the end result is far more beautiful than any could ever have hoped for.

A lovely, lovely story.
