Pairing: Mike Flynn/Kate McGregor
Blurb: So for all of you that don't know (which i imagine would be a lot) Sea Patrol is an Australia action/drama teevee show about the Australia Navy, it specifically follows a patrol boat, Hammersley, and her crew. It has an all Australia cast and is about the only aussie teevee show i watch. Leading the charge are two of Australia's finest actors Ian Stenlake as Commander Mike Flynn and Lisa McCune as Lt Kate McGregor.
BAM! From the first ep when Kate is posted as Hammersley's XO, we find out that Mike and Kate have a history together, A SUPA SEKRIT AFFAIR when he was her teacher at the Defence force Academy, and now he's her CO. Its awesome and awkward. Its two people that never thought they'd see each other again, and now they're posted to the same ship in tight quarters. The best thing about this pairing is the character growth thats involved. Over four seasons (and just renewed for a fifth) we've seen MAJOR developments between these two, going from two very closed off people, especially towards each other, to them stealing each others coffee mugs. Even though Mike is Kate's CO, she still snarks at him, and rolls her eyes and he gets this completely frustrated look like it never occurs to him to order her to do something.
They're adorable, and have highly dangerous jobs, so that always leads to SOMEONE being shot at or exploded or in danger somehow and the other trying to act all cool and calm, BUT COMPLETELY FAILING. The amount of time these two eye sex on the bridge is ridculous! And don't worry, its not one of these military shows that goes on for 10 season with no light at the end of the tunnel. I promise you don't have to wait that long ;)

Why This Must Be Read: Muldy is like my number one go to person for Sea Patrol fic, so don't be surprised if she pops up a few times in here. This is such a tiny piece, and could easily be overlooked, but what i love about it, is the outsiders opinion on Mike and Kate. There is something SO awesome about hearing another character talk about Kate and Mike's undying love for each other. lol no its not that bad, its awesome and subtle and such a nice little insight.

Shan write such good fluff that its like addictive and a 5 step program needs to be written for it. Why This Must Be Read: This is my third rec by Shan, i love her stuff. I've been reading most of it since she started writing and its been an amazing journey just to see her develop as a writer. This is one of her earlier pieces, and even though in some parts its a little choppy, the overall theme of the fic is goregous. SERIOUSLY. If there was an ep of sea patrol with these two just laying around in bed all day, i would LOVE it. Shan just has a nack of painting beautiful pictures with her words, plus you have added bonus of nosey crewmates in this one, which is always fun!

Why This Must Be Read: I be quite honest I have no idea what this is really about, its written in second person, which generally wigs me out big time, but i like it. lolz There is something about the language used that makes me fall in love with it, and shows that very rarely used vulnerable side to Kate, that is just amazing yo! Plus its inspired by my fav Mayday Parade song ever (I Swear This Time I Mean It).

Why This Must Be Read: Because this is awesome Mike/Kate really dishing the dirt out and Kate putting her foot down, because REALLY Mike needs a foot up the ass and its got Dutchy being all protective of Kate, and really, this fic is just so awesome i can't say enough about it. Muldy has this skill of making Kate SO sad (not pathetic sad you stooge) but just, her character, like maybe all the crap that Mikes put her through this season REALLY got to her and maybe she really can't take anymore. CAuse Mike's a douche to her yo!Haha And even the tiny hint that Dutchy might punch Mike in the face for it, has me delightfully gleeful. I should warn though, it is a WIP. So go read it an annoy Muldy for an update!
