Fandom Category: Without a Trace
Pairing: Samantha Spade/Martin Fitzgerald
Fic Title: Sinking Fast
Author: singingstarryknights
Link: here
Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: Friendship, with a hint of something more
WIP?: No
Special Rec: 4/31
Why This Must Be Read: I fell into this fandom a little bit late -- thanks to TNT reruns -- after Sam and Martin had already broken up, and against what was probably my better judgment, I found myself completely sucked into their story. This fic is on the shorter side, but it highlights the easy banter that was so much of what I loved about the pairing, while it simultaneously adds a soft hint of both regret and hope from Martin's POV. It's a nice look into what could have happened after the breakup, after Martin's addiction, but didn't. It's hard to find lighter stories about Martin and Sam without veering into OOC territory. This manages upbeat without going over the top.

Pairing: Samantha Spade/Martin Fitzgerald
Fic Title: Damaged Bad at Best

Rating/Warning(s): NC-17, Sex
Genre: Angst
WIP?: No
Special Rec: 5/31
Why This Must Be Read: Okay, so taking this pairing in a completely different direction. This looks at the darker aspects of Martin and Sam as a couple, particularly the darker aspects of Sam's character and her struggle with happiness and knowing what that is. This is sharp and honest, with plenty of awkwardness between the two as they struggle to protect themselves from what will be the inevitable end. Definitely one of the most powerful stories written about them.
