This has resulted in two tropes (for a ship that is just beginning) - that D/B is a prop for the original ships; OR that D/B is the secret OTP that the producers have been hiding all this time. Why This Must Be Read: Future fic. Uses the premise of the movie Definitely, Maybe, it chronicles the story of Dan as he talks about the 3 most significant girlfriends of his life to his daughter. Like the movie, the daughter and the reader has to figure out who the mom is. The author assures that she is not using the structure of the movie, hence the order by which the girls are revealed has no significance on who the mom is.  Currently, the third girlfriend is yet to be revealed, but it is apparently Blair. But like the movie, Dan would likely still end up with a different woman from the woman who became his daughter's mom. The interactions between Dan and the OC daughter are endearing. It's a love story mystery, and we're all still trying to guess who the mom is.
