Author’s Summary: Mal/Inara after the movie. Not the whys as much as the what. (Also, Kaylee/Simon to keep my fluff muse well-fed and happy.)
Why This Must Be Read: Inara and Mal are a complex pairing, in canon and fic alike. This fic addresses their many sticking points head-on and finds the middle ground that (one would hope) two mature and maybe-in-love adults might find on the way to some kind of happiness. The sweet Simon/Kaylee fluffiness floating in the background here adds a lovely contrast to the complicated dalliances of the main pairing, and River, Jayne, and Zoe come in to add the usual bits of in-character ensemble flavor that most of the best Firefly fics have.
