Why This Must Be Read: It's Karen's journey forward finding what she wants and not only romantically speaking. She goes from being the girl with a spot in the ensemble, just happy to strive for her best, to the performer who is not afraid to show she can do better than Ivy. Derek is with her for the ride, at first in a subtle way, until the UST grows into something Karen knows she wants in her life. I think this fic made an excellent work to sketch a possible, if not likely, future for those characters while keeping them true to themselves. Also, the way Karen and Derek relate to each other here? It's very 'them'.
