Why This Must Be Read: The basic premise of this fic is a missing moment that spans the four years that Aerith spent writing letters to her missing boyfriend. There's something remarkable about how richly textured this fic is; though only one half of the couple is actually present, the reasons they worked, their dynamics come through perfectly. I think my single favourite thing about this story is the deft way obabscribbler wove memories just chock-full of emotion in between the strained optimism Aerith tries to hold onto.
