Why This Must Be Read: This is one of my favourite Jess/Rory fic and verse. Maybe one of The Jess/Rory fic, from what I would consider one of their best writers. It goes AU after Nag Hammadi and it's one of the most epic and best fic I've read for these two. Full of banter and a wide cast of characters — all Stars Hollow residents and a few OCs coming in from Jess' New York life (one of my favourite detail bc yes! Jess had a life in NYC, an okay life!, and I like how the author incorporates that life and doesn't make it overly gritty and sad for him like a lot of fic do) — and expands post fic in several other fics, all chronically Rory and Jess' relationship over the years. It's also a great fic about each of these families, Gilmores, Danes, Marianos coming together.

Really, one of the best fics out there for them I'd rec it even to people who don't love the ship because it's so lovely. But also Lipton Lee has a bunch of really wonderful fic for this ship.

Why This Must Be Read: There was another fic I wanted to rec but the end is kinda dissapointing and unfilling so you get my back up. Short and sweet moment between Luke and Lorelai full of banter and layers of feeling between them. It also includes my second favourite thing about them as ship: the connection Luke has with Rory.

Why This Must Be Read: What if Chris had stayed away as Rory asked him and that entire plotline with Emily hadn't occured? Well, here's a version of what could have happened. It starts with Luke going to Rory's dormroom ready to ask her a very important question. Lovely and sweet rewrite with a much happier ending. (Sidenote: one of the few fics I've read that I don't completely dismiss out of my dislike for Logan's charcter. This author actually makes me tolorate the guy! Success!)

Right, so, awhile ago, during the "Epic Recs" challenge, I posted this short-ish list of Gilmore Girls epics. Now, I stand by that list! However, I've had a few friends ask me about reccing some more stuff because I've been going on and on and ON about how there's so much epic Gilmore Girls stuff out there.

Well, I finally snapped and dug through FF.net and Black, White, and Read, and am posting an epic post of epicness. And yes, I'm going to use 'epic' a bunch more times. And probably a lot of exclamation marks.

This is an AU from the end of season 6, in which April is in an accident. Her hospitalisation brings Luke and Lorelai together again - but it's not smooth sailing for them.

I've found that I'm very picky about Gilmore Girls fanfic; of all the many I've tried, there's only been a handful that I've really liked. This is one of those few. It's definitely angsty, even tear-jerking at times, but it also has some lovely relationship moments.

There is also a sequel, named "The Long Road Ahead"; while I don't think it's as good as the first story, it's still well worth checking out.

Why This Must Be Read: In case you missed it, a couple of days ago

aj posted THE Lorelai/Luke epics rec post. "Separation Anxiety"/"Everything Old is New Again" and the entire "Middle Management" series can never be recommended enough, in my opinion. They, and this fic are my big 3 for the Gilmore Girls fandom. I've re-read them a million times, and each time I find something new to love.

Unlike the others though, this one takes GG canon, warts and all, through the end of the series and builds on it beautifully.

By turns funny, heart warming, heart breaking (when the author says TISSUE WARNING she ain't messing around, folks. No matter how many times I read them, certain parts of On Losing, the end of State of Grace and several points in between always make me bawl), dramatic, and sweet, this series is EPIC, in every sense of the word, spanning the season 6 break up, the season 7 reunion, marriage, children, grandchildren, and beyond.

Also, if you're thinking about giving Middle Management and/or Danes Family Rules a try, but aren't sure, the authors of both fics wrote a pair of short, sweet, meta, cracktastic crossover ficlets that serve as an overview of both universes: Middle Mayhem & The Forms of Things Unknown [MAJOR SPOILERS FOR BOTH SERIES]

Why This Must Be Read:
Lorelai calls Luke at work to tell him that he needs to come and get his nephew out of her daughter's bed. This slots so neatly into the canon, with Lorelai's constant wandering pop references and Luke understanding her even when she doesn't make sense. Also, there's a sweetness to the relationship of Jess and Rory, a small innocence that isn't seen in so many fics centered there, and the small domestic potential of these people as a family is smooth and comfortable.

Why This Must Be Read: Mag1 has her own, smutty, Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda ficathon going on with this story. In each - unrelated - chapter she takes a separate episode where Lorelai and Luke didn't hook up, and gets them together. In sometimes fluffy, often funny, romantic, wonderful ways. She claims some of the stories are out-of-character, to better facilitate jumping straight to the porn, but I don't see it, and hey when it's this good (and hot), who minds?
