Fandom Category: Lois and Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman
Pairing:Lois Lane/Clark Kent
Fic Title: The Persistence of Memory
Author: Zoomway
Link: http://www.lcfanfic.com/stories/2002/persist.txt
Rating/Warning(s): Mild violence, mild language
Genre: Drama, Romance, Time Travel
WIP?: No
Why This Must Be Read: Kaylle's recent post of several excellent Lois and Clark recs reminded me of one of my all time favorite L/C fics, The Persistence of Memory.
The premise of this fic is fairly simple for the time travel genre; H.G. Wells' first appearance in the season 2 episode "Tempus Fugitive" accidentally jumpstarted Lois and Clark's relationship too early, causing repercussions echoing up and down the couple's history that must be remedied immediately. The best way to do that turns out to be separately sending Lois and Clark to many different points in their relationship (their first meeting, Lois's bungled confession of love to Superman at the end of season one, season two when Clark gets the door slammed in his face on their first date, and many other milestones along the way) to use their foreknowledge to move things in the right direction, or sometimes screw them up completely.
Amidst all the time travel goodness there's a wonderful through-line plot of HG Wells struggling to retrieve circa-the-series-finale Lois and Clark who have become unstuck in time, providing a plausible and interesting origin for thebaby that appeared at the end of the last episode of the series. (I don't think that needed to be spoiler cut after fifteen years, but better safe than sorry.)
The author does an amazing job of in depth character analysis for every era of the series, taking some of the weirder moments and giving them a logical explanation in the larger context, and providing even the most minor characters with a chance to shine (Martha Kent's various appearances are my favorite. She has a beautiful character arc.)
It's a long, intricately plotted fic with moments of humor, darkness, and everything in between. You won't regret giving it a try.

Several Lois and Clark stories

Hello,
het_reccers! My name is Kaylle, and I'm the special reccer for July. I'm getting a little bit of a late start, but I think I can still get to 20+ by the end of the month.
I tend to have unusual taste in fandoms, so my recs will probably be spread around a lot. I'm starting today with a handful of Lois and Clark recommendations. Lois and Clark was the first fandom I got really involved in online, and I have a lot of really fond memories of it. I may come back with more from this fandom later in the month.

Momentum by Kathy Brown (PG)

Fandom Category: Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Pairing: Lois/Clark
Fic Title: Momentum: A Winter Holiday Tale & Momentum 2: The Revelation
Author: Kathy Brown
Link: Momentum, Momentum 2
Rating/Warning(s): PG for the first story/PG-13 for some sexual tension in the second
Genre: Romance, Fluff, Holiday, General
WIP?: No
Why This Must Be Read: Lois & Clark's season two episode "Season's Greedings" is one of the cutest, fluffiest television Christmas episodes ever aired. It's adorable. It's also one of the shippyest Lois & Clark episodes pre-relationship. So it's a perfect jumping off point for a long, fluffy, sweet romance fic.
After heading to Smallville at the end of "Season's Greedings" Clark decides he doesn't want his relationship with Lois to go back to just the platonic friendship they had before Christmas and if he's careful he might be able to use the lingering holiday spirit of the week leading up to New Year's Eve to make her see him as a romantic prospect instead of just her best friend. This involves ice skating, hot cocoa, cookies and everything else the perfect holiday time dates would have.
The relationship between Lois and Clark is deftly drawn and insanely sweet without tipping over into treacly, and the holiday setting is used as a wonderful backdrop without taking over the story.
The sequel tackles the ramifications of the fact that there's a third person in the Lois/Clark relationship, even if he's just someone Clark pretends to be from time to time. Clark thinks a romantic weekend getaway at a mountain ski resort is the perfect time to tell Lois that he's Superman, but life, bad luck, and Lois herself keep getting in his way.
Both stories are long, heartwarming, festive reads, that are great around Christmas or any other time of year.

Rating/Warning(s): PG, spoilers for season 2.
Genre: Romance, friendship, au, angst, humor.
WIP?: Each story is complete!
Why This Must Be Read: Again, Nan Smith is pretty much my favorite Lois and Clark author EVER. She's written a TON of stuff, all of it top quality. Nan's characterization is a joy, and brings me back to 1996 in full flush of love with this series. However, this little series stands out because it really works with canon and nails the episodic tone of the show. Plus! There's a murder mystery weekend!

The Dagger Series by Nan Smith
Jun. 9th, 2009 04:21 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Fandom Category: Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Pairing: Lois Lane/Clark Kent, Martha Kent/Jonathan Kent, various.
Fic Title: Dagger of the Mind, Dagger's Edge, Assassin's Dagger, Doppelganger, Blind Man's Bluff, Countdown, Priorities, Vanishing Act, Charade, Heritage, Unforeseen Consequences, Christmas in Metropolis, Daddy's Little Girl, Suspicions, Mother's Day, A Tasteful Lesson, Too Hot to Handle, The Sting, Consequences, Middle School, and Degrees of Separation
Author: Nan Smith
Link: Under the 'Dagger' series.
Rating/Warning(s): PG->PG-13. Baby, then kidfic. Post-series. OC's. Long.
Genre: Adventure, Mystery, Romance, Humor.
WIP?: Each story is complete in itself, but the series is on-going.
Why This Must Be Read: I've actually been reading this series as it's been released over the last nine or so years. I absolutely adore Nan as a Lois and Clark author because she absolutely nails the tone of the show. I very much love this series because it feels like an honest and heart-warming followup to the series. And while I raise my eyebrow at the ever-expanding Super!Family, it's not over the top, and the kids are brilliant and fun. I'm also incredibly impressed with the way Nan continues to put out interesting, fun, adventure stories, all the while keeping all of her characters (especially Lois and Clark) so bright and fun.
