Why This Must Be Read: A wonderful look at what was going on with Gwen at the end of the film, capturing all the emotion we didn't have time to see. From grief to anger to need to forgiveness, this is a great fic about Gwen and her struggle and confusion over Peter's decision.

Why This Must Be Read: When I first read the idea, I was entirely dubious. But this is a surprisingly well written fusion where Ariadne is actually a witch in Harry Potter's world, and how she comes into Cobb's Inception world with that history. Her relationships and viewpoints are tainted by her experiences, and the muggle world is suddenly just as complicated as her wizarding world. Very well written.

Why This Must Be Read: Anzu thinks she has everything she's ever wanted in life... until she gets invited to Yugi's wedding. Priorities and past feelings abound. It's really an ensemble story (with background Rebecca/Yugi, Serenity/Tristan, Joey/Mai and a surprise pairing), and I love that the author uses the opportunity to showcase everyone's friendships and different voices. The core triangle isn't annoying, either, but fully realised and sympathetic to everyone involved -- not to mention featuring some of the best writing I've ever read, in the sense that it rings so true to life. I cannot recommend this story highly enough, or love this story more even if it had been written with one of my OTPs as the centre. It's that good.

Her characterization of Arthur as the reserved researcher is spot-on, and Ariadne is a good counter-point to his interest and intensity. It's not very long, just a few hundred words, but the author manages to paint a picture of what could possibly be that makes you want to fit this into your head-canon.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the start of the author's "marshalldeadverse", which is how the first one starts. Marshall dies, and somehow Lily has to move on. The tragedy and heart-break is SO palpable, and some of the parts in this series have made me cry *like anywhere from tight-chested choking up to full on sobbing). Some involve some pretty graphic sex scenes, so warning there, but mostly everything is incredibly well written - and totally depressing, but in such a good way. The evolution of Lily and Barney's relationship is so well done, and so in character. I can't say enough good things about this series, it's mind-blowing and so, so sad but so, so freaking good.

Why This Must Be Read: This author nails the Inception universe. A job goes awry for Arthur, and he ends up relying on Ariadne for help - who he hasn't seen since he'd broken off a relationship with her. It's a long fic at around 23k. This is really excellent, the settings-descriptions are so realistic one feels like being there with them and the utter competence of both Arthur and Ariadne is fantastic. Backstory development and pitch-perfect characterization. This whole story has the feel of a dash of film noire which is utterly fantastic. It also feels thoroughly researched and that is such a refreshing, wonderful change.

There's a sequel too, which is just as good at around 20k.

I love this two! I really really do! And this story does them justice in a way that few stories do. Ariadne is just a girl who's trying to find her place in the world and after the Inception job she just doesn't know what to do or where to go, so when irony calls (aka Robert Fisher) to offer her a job she takes the opportunity and leads to a lot of drama and agstiness because even though Fisher is completely enchanted by her, she's stil purely and absolutely in love wih Arthur. Anyway, Love, SO SO much love for this story!

Why This Must Be Read: This is a wonderful, long (10k) fic that explores evolution of Ariadne's perception of Arthur, beginning with glimpses of how they worked together in setting up the con. It follows through post-movie. Wonderful Ariadne voice, whose smart and young and sarcastic, and her interactions with Arthur are very fascinating to read. There's great dialogue, wonderful details that expand the 'verse, and they cleverly fit the movie's canon perfectly.

This author has other long Ariadne/Arthur fics. I haven't read them yet, but I'm sure they're good.

Why This Must Be Read: I've read a lot of Arthur/Ariadne fic lately, but this one is clearly my favorite. It has such an authentic Ariadne voice, not only chronicling the story of what happens after the Fischer job, but it does it in a way that flushes out the verse and characters remarkably. Eames, Cobb, Miles, even Mal have such a great presence throughout the story. And her tale with Arthur is subtle and real and very well handled. I love one-shots, but there's something special about stories with scope and range. This story is wonderfully written with a deft hand.

I heartily recommend it.
